Working with LIVESENS Inc. during the Advance Ontario: April 2025 Cohort on the Real-Time Sensor Data Processing and Optimization project has been an enriching and professionally rewarding experience. The employer provided an excellent balance between guidance and autonomy, enabling me to explore innovative solutions for pedestrian detection and counting using YOLO-based computer vision models.
The mentorship from the LIVESENS team was particularly valuable, as they were approachable, supportive, and always ready to provide constructive feedback. They encouraged experimentation, leading to productive iterations using various tracking algorithms such as ByteTrack and DeepSORT. Regular check-ins and clear communication allowed me to continuously refine my technical approach, balancing performance and accuracy effectively.
Furthermore, the emphasis on practical, real-world applications provided a clear context and motivation for the work, ensuring that the developed solutions had tangible impacts. Challenges such as optimizing models for hardware limitations were particularly insightful, enhancing my technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills significantly.
Overall, this experience has greatly improved my understanding of real-time sensor data processing, enhanced my collaborative and communication abilities, and provided a strong foundation for future professional endeavors.
